The Aesclepius practice was long. I visualized Jesus Christ
to be my wise person because he is my only wise person and Savior. It was hard to visualize a white light from
the crown entering into my mind. The meditation did help my biological
well-being. The experience this time has helped me psychologically by reducing
the mental chatter, the untamed mind, leading me to witnessing my mind by being
in the present moment constantly, thereby giving me calmness. Calmness has kept me from being as stressed
and that is something I will continue to practice the Sublte mind so stress
will not cause any more illness in my body.
The
saying (p.477), "One cannot lead another where one has not gone
himself" to me is like the saying, if we have not had the experience that
we are trying to teach our clients, how can we effectively teach them? No
matter what profession that we are in, if we do not have the knowledge and
experience, then we are not qualified to help our clients. I have an obligation
to develop my total health and well-being so that I can be a model or even a
mentor that will go much further in helping my client, by focusing on their
needs rather than my own and helps me to actively show loving-kindness in a
professional way.

I too had a hard time visualizing a light. I tried to think of a glow more then a beam to see if that would help at least get me started, it was no good either. I do believe that the peace you felt is a plus. I think that a lot of these exercises will get better the more you practice them.
ReplyDeleteI also like your comment on being effective. If we don't know how can we be effective. Then we can ask do we just want a job or do we really want to make a difference. My husband is or rather was a teacher. He put his heart and soul into his kids. He is still in education and still has those great work ethics. It sadden me however to hear one of my coworkers say he wanted to be a teacher so he could get the summer off. I have seen many teachers, thanks to my husband, who really are not doing the kids any good. I take this into the medical field and ask myself do I just want a job that interest me or do I want to make a difference. I want to make a difference, I want to help people. I need to start with myself. I liked how you said,"no matter what profession we are in." That is so true the obligation is to ourselves so we can branch out to help others where we can do the most good to both us and the world.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had success with the Aeslepius meditation. I had some trouble imagining beams of light coming from mt focal points (my grandmother)head and throat and heart and trying to absorb it. It seemed a little odd. I did have an amazing experience with this exercise. I felt so calm and grounded, something I never feel, when I was finished. It's been over 30 years since I have seen my grandmothers face, but I pictured her exactly the way I remembered her. She had beautiful white hair and the softest most luminess skin. She was tall and thin not the granny type at all. She was the strongest, sweetest and most amazing woman I've ever known. I always hoped i would grow up to be just like her. So, far I couldn't have missed the mark any further. That is something I intend to change. She worked in a TB hospital for 40 years and lost her 1st husband to TB. I'm sure that had a lot to do with her being such a strong woman, but I never could understand how she could be so happy and positive, then it came to me. I remember her listening to tapes of church services when I was a kid.It had to have been her spirituality and strong relationship with God. As busy as she was she always made time for religion. When she was 75 and diagnosed with cancer she had a priest come to our house and baptize her. My sister who was 14 at the time was my 75 year old grandmothers God mother. I always found that amusing.
